The book will examine how mental illness impacts the lives of gifted persons in academic, professional, and personal ways.  

 

For centuries, giftedness, creativity, and genius have been linked with mental illness in the minds of the public, in our own minds sometimes, and even in some of the literature. Yet, with rare exception the discussion has not looked at the lives affected so much as at the sweeping concept. That frames one part of the underlying purpose of this work. We know too the commonalities among our three proposed titles: a focus on the interaction(s) between our population and the immediate topic; an examination of issues, nuances, and needs that explicitly covers the sub-populations; and a commitment to first-hand experiences to give voice to those whose stories may have not been told.

Our hope is to have editors in place for this volume within 6 to 12 months, but there is no specific deadline for that as of now.
